Picking out the right outfits for your personal branding session is stressful. These are pictures that show off your brand so you can attract your ideal clients. Of course, you want to choose the best looks possible! Trust me, I get it. As a Maryland personal branding photographer, I spend a lot of time working with clients so they can have pictures that perfectly represent them. If you could use some help, here are some tips for choosing what to wear for personal branding photos in Maryland.
Your branding photos are going to be on everything from your social media pics to your Maryland website. It’s pretty important that you choose colors that won’t clash! If your brand uses certain colors or relies on a particular aesthetic, be sure to pick clothing that will perfectly match. This way, the entire look will tie effortlessly together!
Just a quick tip: if your branding does include neon colors, I would suggest you exclude them. Unfortunately, neons almost never photograph well.
There are actually a handful of reasons why you want to plan multiple outfits. Chances are, you wear different styles for different occasions. You can incorporate these different looks so people can get an authentic look at your business. Also, you can plan different outfits so that you can make the pictures look like they’re from different sessions. Some of my clients will even pick outfits from each season so they can change up the images when necessary without having to plan an entirely different session. So, how many should you bring? I would suggest 4-6 outfits in total.
If you choose Maryland outfits that make you feel self-conscious in personal branding photos, it’s going to show. Look up a guide for what will fit your body type and plan around it. If there’s an outfit that makes you feel totally invincible, bring it! It helps to use clothing you’ve worn versus brand-new pieces that might not be as comfortable as you initially thought. I also suggest leaning more toward flowy outfits that will move with you.
There’s a difference between wearing an outfit and styling it. Accessories let you take your Maryland personal branding photos to the next level. At the same time, you don’t want to overdo it. Things like bags, shoes, belts, hats, necklaces, and earrings are always great options when it comes to pulling a look together. You can also swap out accessories throughout your session so you can create a brand-new outfit with minimal work.
Remember: these are sessions selling your personal brand. Don’t make your session a free advertisement for someone else! Logos can be extremely distracting for personal brand photos, and it’s best that you ditch the clothing that shows them off.
Make sure you bring 1-2 outfits that you would wear when you meet your clients. Think of it this way. Your session is selling you to your ideal client. This is their first look. It’s their interview with you. Dress in something that is fitting for your occupation while also embracing the spirit of who you are.
With these clothing tips, you can have personal branding photos in Maryland that you love! Now, you just need the right photographer.
